Health and Safety Policy Statement

Environmental Policy Statement

Below is a list of procedures considered and implemented on all our projects at every possible opportunity:

Distributor and Manufacturer co-operation

Wherever possible all materials used are sourced from local manufacturers/suppliers to reduce the need for transport over long distances and the environmental issues associated with this, such as carbon emissions and fuel consumption.

Material procurement and delivery management.
Wherever possible deliveries are co-ordinated; transport is minimised by delivering to multiple local sites at the same time. To reduce delivery transportation we encourage the delivery of materials direct from the manufacturer to site, rather than through distribution branches.

Site organisation and storage management.
All materials will be stored in accordance with the manufacturers’ guidelines. Any hazardous materials will be stored under strict controls set out in these guidelines to prevent any negative environmental impact. Principal contractors programme to be considered and appropriate to the minimisation of damages.

Vehicle Emissions Calculations.
Vehicle emission calculations are carried out before company vehicles are purchased to ensure that all our vehicles do not have excessive carbon emissions or fuel consumption. When in usage all our vehicles are monitored weekly, and the older less efficient vehicles are replaced with newer more environmentally friendly models wherever possible.

Personnel Transport management and control.
Labour is co-ordinated to ensure that personnel live as local to the work site as possible and car pooling is a mandatory company policy.

Integration of recycled and sustainable material into design.
Any waste that is produced will be disposed of through a waste recycling scheme where practical, and every effort will also be made to procure materials from sustainable sources.
Introduce case studies of environmental engineering

Natural product integration.
Natural products are used where practical to reduce the environmental implications associated with the manufacture of synthetic products.
Introduce case studies of environmental engineering

FSC/PEFC on timber products.
All timber products used by Brebur are from sustainable sources and will carry either FSC or PEFC certification. Ensure all certification is included on specific projects.

Waste management, control and segregation.
On site procedures are in place to ensure that waste is minimised at all times. This will include materials that are site surveyed and then pre-cut or manufactured in sizes that will significantly reduce the waste generated on site. Wherever waste is generated it will be segregated and reused/recycled if possible. Any hazardous waste will be disposed of in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines to eliminate any impact on the environment.

Minimise material packaging/use of environmentally sympathetic packaging.
Any packaging used will be kept to a minimum and reused if appropriate. If possible packaging will be made from recycled material and will again be recycled after use.

Pallet return/re-use policy.
All pallets are returned to our suppliers for re-use or used around site for other applications.

Minimisation paper trail, i.e. electronic.
It is an Brebur company policy both on site and in our head office to reduce our use of paper by primarily using electronic communication and recording systems.

We give our full commitment to developing our policies and system at every opportunity. Our company has recently contributed to the highest BREEAM award being received for a number of our projects.
We are working toward our goal of becoming a Carbon Neutral Company.
